»January 2013: first matches in new Castelão stadium.
On January 27th 2013, Castelão staged the two first matches; two games were played, both in the Northeast Cup, a regional tournament between top teams.
First match ended goalless: Fortaleza x Sport.
The first goal of the new Castelão was scored in Ceara 0 x 1 Bahia; the scorer was Kleberson, a veteran who was World Champion with the Brazilian team in 2002.
According to official sources, the total audience of both games was 34,249 attendants (including FIFA's chairman Jerome Valcke), out of 55,605 tickets which were put on sale.
»December 2012: Castelão stadium is the first to be finished for the World Cup.
There was no match; the first match in the stadium will be in January.

Fortaleza certainly gained many points before FIFA; while the Federation issues repeated warnings against delays in the stadiums, Fortaleza completed the stadium within time, showing a strong commitment with the organization of the Cup.
